In this photo, I'm just starting a new painting.  I laid out the general composition (always subject to change, of course) and then began filling in a bit of the waterfall.  I never know where I'll start doing that, but my intent is to begin laying out areas of color, both to give a view of what I have or hope to have.  Doing that provides me an opportunity to begin assessing not only the composition, but also the general areas of cool and warm colors.  I want to check the balance of cool and warm, light and dark.  More later.
